A Life of Responsibility, Leadership, and Service
A Life of Responsibility, Leadership, and Service
Larry Kellogg brings decades of real-world experience, independent thinking, and accountability to his campaign for Congress.

I go by “Larry”
Why am I running?
Do you ever look at something being done and say to yourself, “That isn’t right!”?
I have had those feelings these days.
In all honesty, I have long wanted to do it.
We can all bet that is true of all candidates – they won’t admit it. Would it probably be best to have someone in the office who wants to be there, all other things being equal?
About my background
I grew up in Arcadia, California, out in the San Gabriel Valley. After graduating from public school, I attended California State University, Los Angeles. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and, a year later, with a Master of Business Administration. I became a pilot.
Somehow, I worked my way up to being an international cargo pilot. I flew 747’s around the world. I finished up as a captain for over 10 years. Then I retired at 65.
Along the way, I married and raised three girls. They are doing well because, as I like to say, brains skip a generation. Now, I am divorced, but still in the same house. I forgot to add that I am also a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks.
One hang-up I have about this candidate business is the tendency to brag about oneself. Yes, all of us candidates have to do it to try to convince our fellow citizens to take a chance on us and trust us with their vote, but it just seems so wrong.
Even talking about being a pilot sounds elitist. I’m sure glad I did it. I felt blessed by God that I got to do it, and if anything, I hope that my story can somehow inspire a young person considering aviation to pursue it. Yup, being a pilot is hard, but worthwhile things usually are – my advice is not to take the easy way out in pursuit of life’s endeavors.
